An Internet Startup Business; rule number one ... - SEO-Social Media

If you follow a few simple rules, you can build a successful Internet business within a very short period of time.

How do I know this?

I created a successful online social media marketing business known as seo-socialmedia.net located in Montreal, Canada for less than 100 dollars. My return on investment for that has been about 1000 percent. I believe that if I can do it, anyone can.

Over the next few weeks, I will be sharing my personal secrets of success with my readers. I am hoping that in sharing my own trials and tribulations, I can help someone like myself achieve Internet success.

I will not make promises or offer guarantees of success, I do not use get rich magic tricks and I do not think that everything I discuss will apply to your particular situation. I encourage you to use whatever information you feel is necessary to reach your own success and put the rest aside for future reference. Grab a coffee, sit back, relax and begin reading.

Most people set unrealistic goals such as; believing they will get rich overnight, or thinking that they will make enough money in the first year to live comfortably. The truth is, this very rarely happens in any business situation.

Think about this; if you did not get rich overnight does it mean your business failed? No, but it may mean you have set your business up for failure from the get go.

Rule number one: Do not set yourself up for failure ? set yourself up for success!

The facts are:
1. Most Internet businesses do not make a profit until the second year of operation.
2. There are no overnight get rich schemes ? you simply have to work hard.

This ?get rich? thinking is really not your fault. You have unknowingly been conditioned with this thought process by unscrupulous marketing tactics.

Let us begin a move toward changing this behaviour by looking at the facts.

This ?get rich? thinking process is a direct result of being bombarded with Internet advertising that promises overnight Internet business success and ?unbelievable? monetary results. While some people actually do have success in these types of Internet businesses, it is mostly based on?pure luck,? and direct marketing. Sadly, direct marketing is often achieved at the cost of ?stealing money from? or ?scamming? others.

Many of these types of marketing practices become successful through massive online traffic, hot linking or pyramid scheme advertising. The more people reached, the more chance for selling success. These marketing programs do not care what products they are selling, only that they do. The formula is based on a Quanity vs Quality way of thinking.

Although there is nothing technically wrong with it, these types of Internet businesses tend to be illegal or carefully crafted misrepresentation of the actual profit or selling numbers.

First and foremost, many of these get rich products or service Internet businesses rarely have a long lifespan. They are called get rich quick schemes for a reason.

The trick to making money with these types of Internet businesses is to sell high when a product or service is popular and literally ?give it away? when the product begins losing steam. When the product is selling high, the product is sold higher in price than it is even worth.

It is usually only those who can afford to purchase these businesses who are able to profit from them, thus; ?making the rich even richer.?

When the product or service begins to lose its selling power, the Internet business is sold for less and less profit until it is sold for next to nothing. Generally speaking, this is when it becomes affordable for the mass population. People may assume it is a great product because they have heard of people getting rich from it. They purchase the product or business with unrealistic hopes of striking it rich, however, they are in fact simply buying into a ?dying? business. The original investors have already profited from it and there is no real money left to be made.

The next question on your mind probably is, how can they do this, isn?t that false advertising? In reality, the product sellers are ?not lying;? they did in fact get rich from it. They are simply ?twisting? the truth to make it sound profitable.

The best example of a get rich quick Internet business that I can offer to you is: ?Facebook fan pages.?

The Facebook fan page metric changes so frequently that you can no longer build a viable business doing fan pages; unless you are willing to constantly work for free. This was once a profitable Internet business. Since the introduction of the new Facebook time line, this is no longer the case. Then why does it seem that many people are still selling Facebook fan page applications? They are. They know that not everyone is aware of this fact and they believe if they make the selling price cheap enough, (sell low) someone will be tricked into buying it. Is this wrong? Technically and legally no; morally yes. When the time line goes live, there will no longer be a need for the Facebook fan page applications that are in use right now. The unsuspecting purchaser will no doubt make some money, but only for a short period of time and no where near what the original investors did.

Furthermore, clients are not going to want to repay to have their fan pages redone every time Facebook decides to make a change.

Chances are you did not stipulate this in the original customer contract and therefore the changes are usually made at the owner?s expense. While it may be true, the first contract you got with your client yielded a huge amount of cash, the constant changes afterwards have significantly dwindled the profits. Not the Internet businesses you dreamed of?

My personal Internet Business tip: How do you know when it is time to get out of your Internet business?? Developers will begin to sell applications at a low cost when they suspect a major change is about to occur.

If you purchase one of these ?going for cheap? applications, you may find yourself buying a product that will be useless within a month?s time. While you will still make a bit of money, you will make no where near what the original owners did.

Now that you have set yourself up for success instead of failure how do you acheive better results?
